Stepping out of a dark portal that had opened up straight into her white room she placed a foot gently on the ground, breathing softly as she strode over to her chair and set her bag down on the table. That day it had been light, barely making a noise as it was set down as opposed to some days when it made quite the noise. All around her it was silent other than her soft breaths and the quiet creaking of the house from the wind that blew outside, and she reveled silently in it, glancing over at the large window with the white drapes hanging in front of it.
Nothing seemed to be out of place, not a single thing unusual that she could see, which meant that her room remained untouched as it always did. Which also led her into the security that nothing was going to come for her that day, an irrational fear that she persistently felt pressing at her from the corner of her mind, and it allowed her to relax a little bit. There was no telling how long she would stay there in that room but—
Immediately her shoulders stiffened and eyes widened when she heard a loud crashing noise from downstairs, and a fear flooded her and nearly made her choke on her breath. There was really no reason for her to panic… it could have just been something falling over… yet long ago she had organized everything so things would stop falling, so it couldn’t have been that. That could only mean one thing—but that was impossible, no one ever entered the old mansion.
Slowly, carefully, she made her way over to the door and opened it slowly, glad that the hinges had been replaced so that it did not make a loud creaking sound as she paused, hearing heavy footfalls on the steps, making them creak and groan. For several moments she held her breath, fearing that they would start towards her, but rather they went in the other direction and she allowed herself to glance out of the door. All she could see though was a flash of blond hair and a glint of silver before whomever it was disappeared into the library.
Alright, choices were that she could either stay in her room, run, or approach the stranger.
Weighing the options momentarily she hesitated for a few moments before pushing the door open further and inching her way out into the dark hallway, trying to keep her footsteps light over the old floorboards as she made her way across the house. The library was a room that she was relatively familiar with, and she knew that its door creaked rather loudly—though the person in there appeared to have left it open, enough for her to glance in and attempt to be hidden (though she really wasn’t).

The person in the library appeared to be a young man around her height (unusual, really) with blond hair who was peering at the books curiously, and she stared at him blankly, eyes briefly falling to the arm furthest from her, noting with interest that it did not look to be a natural arm. Considering the fact that it was silver and metal of course it wasn’t, and she couldn’t help but take a step forwards in an attempt to get a better look—but, of course, the floor creaked underneath her weight.
”—Oh…”
As soft as the noise was, that probably didn’t help either. Whoops.
