drakedomitor:

Training a dragon isn’t always as simple as it sounds and finding a new group of said reptiles and getting to know their personalities is a little challenging but not impossible. Not as challenging when talking to Snotlout and the twins. A subtle grin couldn’t help but surface from the thought as he glanced over towards his ol’ bud. Toothless seemed to be in a certain mood as well—his tail flicking in contemplation as they looked out to sea. His head resting at the edge of rock, nostrils flared ever now and again as wild birds flew overhead. Chestnut brows creased in ponderment before an idea came to mind.

“Hey Toothless? You wanna go meet up with the other dragons and have a little fun, pal? We’ve been sitting here for a while and I could use the stretch. What do you say?”

The rolling of luminescent green hues after a moment was an easy confirmation to the question at hand. The reptile let out a rather agreeable huff before lifting himself up from his previous position. He stared back at the young viking knowingly as Hiccup proceeded to mount Toothless and head for the outer rim of Berk to pay everyone a little visit.

When they reached a certain point across the ocean of forest—Hiccup spotted a familiar gathering of dragons below who were both relaxing and prowling. To his surprise a few were staring intently in a particular direction of brush—and definitely didn’t look content. In fact, they looked rather cautious and that perked the viking’s curiosity. He immediately reached his hand out and patted Toothless on the shoulder blade.

“Take us down, bud. I think there…might be a situation.”

Dipping down at the command Toothless landed near the source of the commotion. Dragon heads turned their attention towards him as he came closer, his reptile right behind him. A simple hand gesture was provided as he glanced around the expansion.

“Well, what’s the problem guys? You look a little frazzled.”

As unsure as she was about her general presence there she still yet felt the urge to pick up something and draw these creatures that she had never seen anywhere else. Yet at the same time she felt somewhat guilty, wondering if her presence—of course it wasn’t very well hidden she was behind brush of all things—was truly that unsettling for them. And then on the other hand she wasn’t sure whether or not she would get out of there without getting eaten, which led her to being rather firmly rooted on that spot she was sitting in.

All the same she peered out from behind the leaves and branches, watching silently as a few dragons lurked closer to the bush, and she shifted back slightly. Not that moving any further back would help her much, but it was an impulsive movement that she did before thinking, as was the lifting of her head as she heard the beating of wings against the air somewhere above her.

Another dragon landed somewhere in front of her, black and gleaming in its radiance, and it also appeared to have a human rider on it. There was only mild surprise that she felt at the sight of that and she lifted her head a little higher to get a better look, hearing him speak. Evidently he had some sort of authority over the dragons… interesting.

But, as intrigued as she felt, she had no idea if this man was hostile or not. Even if he appeared to be kind enough, appearances could always be thoroughly deceiving, and it did seem that he had at least one dragon on his side that could probably tear her apart if she did something wrong. Not that she knew whether or not she was doing anything wrong to begin with but she supposed that lingering where she shouldn’t could be considered an improper act and be looked down upon.

And yet she was still standing up carefully, brushing off the leaves from her dress and trying not to scrape herself on any leaves as she maneuvered herself while saying, ”I'm sorry.” Impulsive movements had never ended particularly well for her, honestly, and thinking before acting tended to work best in almost all situations.

                                                      ”—I probably shouldn’t be… lingering.”
