And there was good reason he was never in the room. Still, the moment he opened the door, he could hear the faint little squeaks and kweh’s come from within the interior. The candidate walked inside, his steps in a slight hurry as he closed the door behind him to be greeted by his feathery companion. Yellow, but with just a hint of lavender hue on the small puffball’s feathers, it instantly hopped around his ’master’ as a means to get picked up.

Just barely reaching his shin in height, though, Ace was quickly to oblige its request. He knelt down and scooped the fledgling off of the regal carpets that matched the tapestries outside. After a few light shushes, the bird seemed to quiet down, and made its current nest in the boy’s arms. He turned his attention to the young girl before he motioned his head to the shelf that came out of the wall directly to his left. Heavily decorated with books of all colors and conditions, she certainly would have quite a bit of material to choose from. “I don’t have any books on art, but some of them do have quite a lot of pictures in them.

She was given a brief smile, mostly from anxiety and the knowledge that the bird in the room would be questioned as she had never met his small friend before. His lips formed a small ‘o’ before he spoke, though it was partially because this was new. The bird stayed in his room, so who had he ever introduced him to before? “Oh, and this little guy is Chirifuda. He’s a chocobo, if you couldn’t tell, though he’s a bit small right now.

The bird certainly didn’t like the comment on his size, though, and rustled his feathers in response. Ace merely chuckled, a hand raised to stroke and calm the smaller one. Once his attention returned to the books, however, he approached the shelf slowly. Blue gaze scanned the various texts, and his forefinger pointed to a few in particular wordlessly to indicate they were his recommendations. He was apparently still on Chirifuda’s bad side, though, because with each point, the small beak lurched forward with a light snap!

Of all of the things that she expected to find in her friend’s room, a bird was not exactly one of them. She knew that the young man loved chocobos in general and oftentimes preferred to go to the stables where they were kept as opposed to anywhere else if he had the chance, but the blonde hadn’t actually known that he had his own. Let alone a little baby one.

Laughing lightly when Ace mentioned its small size she smiled at her warmly, though it didn’t seem to have yet noticed her, instead ruffling its feathers at the short quip. As much as she wanted to give the baby bird some attention she was soon diverted by the books and her friend’s mentions and recommendations and she stepped close to the bookcase, glancing at all of the titles. For only a moment did she glance at Chirifuda, amused by his clearly annoyed movements at his owner, before looking at the shelves again.

With a soft hum she carefully chose a few books that stood out to her on his recommendation, not allowing herself to grab more than three of them before straightening and setting them on his bedside table and turning to Ace. ”I really do appreciate you letting me borrow your books,” she said again, because she did—to be able to read more books was a treat that she would definitely not take for granted, and she was happy to know that her friend allowed her to take some with her.

Shortly after her statement however she looked down at the small chocobo again, wanting to reach out and touch its feathers but holding back as she wasn’t sure if he would like that much or not. ”But it’s very nice to meet you Chirifuda,” she said, leaning over slightly to get a better look at him, admiring the lavender that seemed to be starting to color the feathers. ”I didn’t know that you had your own chocobo, Ace.”
