Send me one to see how my muse reacts!
While her presence in a solid form on her own was no longer an option, she still had a place. She still existed, inside of Kairi, inside of Kairi’s heart because that was where she belonged. And over time, they had discovered things, new things, things that were questionable at best and were not always a constant because there was no telling if it would stay that way or if it would stop, because while she could appear alongside her Somebody on occasion the reasons why were still unknown, because while she could sometimes touch the redhead it was still something that was not a constant. Through the Princess of Heart’s training and learning of new things, through her trials of combat, they had found out a few more things.
Little things, really. Nothing truly notable, except for the moments when Kairi was close to passing out against a particularly formidable foe. It would only happen sometimes, not quite rarely but not often enough to be thought of actively and taken advantage of, but when the redhead was close to a loss she would be able to emerge. Illogical was it was, it would happen at the most random of times, in moments that later on the Nobody could not even remember because they were moments that were impossible for her to process. But in those moments she had been told that somehow she had been given capabilities to aid the princess in battle—
Oftentimes allowing her to emerge victorious.
No one had ever figured out why or how, no one ever figured out when it would happen and under what circumstances, no one focused on the details because it was such a phenomenon. Something amazing that should not have been able to happen, something that was not questioned because evidently logic escaped everyone’s mind when something supposedly impossible happened. Kairi knew better than to depend wholly on that ability, because it was still so questionable—
Naminé could feel her calling out. Hear her crying for help subconsciously deep in her heart because there was danger, great danger, something that could kill her easily not because of her lack of strength, but because the battle had been too long. Too hard. Healing spells could only do so much, cures could only help her so much, because everyone was so far away in that moment. Potions had been lost and there was fear pounding through her body yet the determination to escape the fray alive. And while she trusted in her Somebody unfailingly the blonde still found herself pushing and reaching and begging loudly, as loudly as she could, to be able to help. To be able to lend her aid in what little ways that she could yet she could not reach that point, could not stand on the precipice of something great and amazing, and it felt like darkness was swallowing her whole.
That time it was so painful. So painful that she was not conscious of the entirety of it, and the next thing that she knew she was waking up in a bed, dazed and confused as to where she was. But there was a ceiling above her and a blanket over her and she could feel things, touch things, which wasn’t anything new—but him looking right at her was. A familiar voice talking to her, familiar yet not because it sounded so hollow, so empty and void of emotion, that it made something inside of her ache. And tears burned her eyes because she knew. She knew, even without listening to him—though she was. Loud and clear, she was listening to him and it felt like the worlds were crushing her as she fell down into an abyss of darkness. So clearly she could hear him questioning where she had been, why she hadn’t been there. Yet all she could say was—

”I’m so sorry, Sora.”
That was all that she could say, because…
Once again she existed, but.
Kairi did not.
Never before had she felt so hollow.
