Knowledge was power and to know one’s enemy was to have the key to defeating them, that much as common sense to most people. General intelligence could be used to outsmart others, to get past difficult situations and into ones that were easier, that would allow a person to live. And there were few things that she could say that she had on her side when it came to defense, but knowledge was one of them.
It wasn’t like she was supremely intelligent by any means, but she had learned through memories and recollections and listening and witnessing the basic means as to how to get around Heartless. While she was not very good in her own self-defense as a result of her lack of strength and no other way to defend herself, she could at least say that she knew how to get away from an enemy when she had no other choice.
Getting cornered against the edge of a cliff was not her best idea.
The idea had been simple enough—they were mildly powerful Heartless, ones that would not be difficult to dispatch by someone with some level of skill with magic or weaponry, and they did not fly. Nor were they terribly fast, but they seemed to be excellent trackers as they continuously found her even as she ran through the forestry, trying to lose them. So drawing nearer to the river that, of course, led to a waterfall seemed to be a good enough idea, because crossing through the water could throw them off.

Sadly she had to backtrack a few times in her attempts because she had ended up too far down the river and the flow of the water had become too strong for her to even think about crossing without being swept over the waterfall. And that, precisely, was how she ended up edging closer to the cliff, trying to keep her breathing steady as she attempted to weigh her options. Not that there were very many, but there had to be something.
Figured that she would get stuck.
