nearingdawn:

The pressure of the heartless’ attack was pushing against his blade and you could almost hear the sound of his teeth grinding together, holding his place so Naminé could escape to somewhere safe. At this point he didn’t care where she went, as long as she was safe nothing mattered at this point. Hearing and seeing out of the corner of his eye he saw Namine run for cover and gave him a chance to get serious.

The master, no longer needed to hold back.

Pushing all his strength towards his blade he managed to push the heartless back a little and the giant enemy lost it’s footing and fell to the ground, meanwhile Riku backflipped out of harm’s way and saftey landed on his two feet. Positioning himself with his keyblade he rushed the heartless and swung his blade obviously causing some major damage on the heartless, because the monster roared and it shook the ground. Riku wouldn’t be surprised if Naminé was scared, or frightened. This heartless looked tough, but Riku knew he could beat him.

The heartless lunged at him, but he dodged it and got onto it’s back and ran his blade down his back. Arriving to the ground safety, he dodged rolled back to the front of the beast and with a determined expression he jumped high in the air and slashed his keyblade through the beast and the body of the heartless began to disapate into nothingness and the heart that surrounded his body was free and flew up into the sky.

 Now she was safe.

Turning his head slightly he in the opposite of Naminé and hiding spot he spoke out loud. ❝——;; You okay?—Nothing broken?

Riku wasn’t sure what less to say, he hadn’t seen Namine in a really long time, since he was fighting the darkness within him and he thought she had returned to Kairi… So why was she here?

Did something happen to Kairi while he wasn’t there? Riku was losing himself in his own destructive thoughts, making the worst out of the situation, and only seeing the negative. He hadn’t seen his friends in so long, could be really be to blame for such thoughts?

There was no doubt in her mind that Riku would be able to defeat the Heartless, yet she couldn’t help the small feeling of apprehension as she peeked out at him regularly and there was definitely a feeling of relief that flooded her when she saw that the Heartless was defeated and was fading. With inquisitive eyes she followed the track of the heart that had been swallowed by darkness, glistening weakly as it traveled upwards into the sky, headed towards Kingdom Hearts. One when he spoke to her once more did she take her eyes away from the sky and look at him properly and still yet it took her a few moments to straighten up properly.

Smoothing out her skirt she stepped out of her hiding place and took only a few paces closer to Riku, stopping a ways away from him. Familiarity flooded her as she gazed upon him, and she shook her head so as to silently say that no, nothing was broken, and she was alright. The Heartless, for all of its strength, had done little more than frighten her as it had caught her off guard, though it likely would have harmed her physically if the keyblade master had not been there—so she supposed that thanks were in order. Not that she wouldn’t have thanked him either way, as he had gotten her out of a difficult situation.

”Thank you, Riku,” the words were said softly, almost lost in the space that stood between them, and she assessed him carefully with her gaze. There was something in his expression that looked concerned and earnest and she knew that she was not meant to be there, not when she had rejoined with Kairi, but her presence was as inexplicable as her existence in and of itself. Of course he was worrying for one of his best friends—normally, a Nobody running around meant something bad had happened.

Of course she could not simply assume that he was worrying after Kairi, and by extension Sora, because it may have been something else entirely, but it was likely no matter what that it was about them. But it wasn’t as if she could answer his unstated question, because she could not read him like an open book as much as she may imagined she could, so she let the subject rest in her mind until the moment when he would ask her himself.

So instead she asked, ”What are you doing here?” As if his presence as half as questionable as hers in that moment.
