Darkness was not supposed to taint a heart of pure light, as such a heart was so rare and unusual that to taint it was a travesty. So awful it was, the mere idea of ruining such a heart, that only those who were truly evil would ever think to do such a thing. Beings with these hearts were powerful in their own right, unable to be touched by darkness, which made them indispensable to the universe in the end.
To that end, there were times when Naminé wondered if her continued presence in Kairi’s heart was acceptable.
There was no doubt that returning to her was the right thing, that going back to her Somebody was the only thing for her to do, her only choice. But while she had told Roxas that they would not disappear, but rather become whole, she had honestly expected a different end to herself. Rest assured that she did not necessarily lie to him, but rather omitted the fact that she was positive that upon returning to Kairi’s heart the light would have swallowed her up and eradicated her presence. After all, being a creature without a heart and veritably a spot of darkness within the light, it was only fair to expect as much.
Not that it happened that way, but rather she was accepted into the redhead’s heart fully and drifted within it, sometimes feeling as if she were asleep and sometimes feeling as if she were watching everything through her Somebody’s eyes, if she tried hard enough. And sometimes she wondered if the young woman was aware of her presence and what she thought about it, how she felt—perhaps Kairi felt irritated, knowing that the purity of her heart was marred by Naminé’s presence within it. Though the young woman was not cruel enough to think as much in the end, for all the attitude that she had she was very kind in general.
Sometimes, not very often but it happened all the same, she would suddenly appear besides the young Princess of Heart as if she had suddenly separated from her, and the feeling was odd at best. The change in her perspective on the world was dizzying and while she was not able to touch or feel anything she saw things through her own eyes and was present, but unseen. Except, perhaps, by Kairi who she wondered could see her from time to time, but as it stood she had never asked. Partly because she feared what the answer would be, but also because those moments never lasted very long. Perhaps too much energy was put into it, though she had no idea how it happened to begin with—it was just a sudden and abrupt thing, really.
So suddenly appearing besides the young woman when she was in the midst of fighting Heartless was—
Well, jarring.

Turning around in place she looked at the Heartless that were surrounding her Somebody, no doubt attracted to her immensely, and she looked at the keyblade that Kairi was wielding with precision that came with the training that she had gone through. It did not appear that she was having any trouble, though Naminé expected nothing less, but all the same the blonde still looked around, kicking out her foot as a test and she was unsurprised when it flew right through a Heartless. Still unable to touch anything then, but she was able to see as always and her eyes latched onto a rather speedy Heartless that was closing in on her Somebody in her blind spot and immediately her chest clenched because the redhead was focused and unable to see it and—
”Kairi, look out!”
