I can't see anything.
Send me a sentence for my character’s reaction:

Darkness was an oxymoron in and of itself. So many people feared the idea of darkness and so many people welcomed the idea of it, and it was both warm and cold. Both alive and desolate. Both vivid and dull all at once—such was the nature of darkness and there was no changing that in the end. Darkness was a constant, it would always exist in the universe just as light would because one would not exist without the other. It was death and life all at once.

And yet people lost their way so often within it or stumbled into it without knowing what they were getting into. In the end she herself was not oftentimes sure of where darkness would lead her, to where she would end up if she was not careful and did not watch her step. To fall into the endless abyss was all too easy, even for a Nobody whom could not be harmed by the darkness all around them, and so it was even easier for those with hearts to lose their way within all of it, if they were not careful. Too often did people end up lost forever… not that she would necessarily allow that to happen, if she could help it.

After all, she had fallen with him. Together they had fallen into the deep black darkness and ended up at what felt like the end of the world, where a dark ocean stretched out nearby what looked to be a beach and there was a vague familiarity with this place, yet it was so foreign she was unsure how to take it. Everything appeared to be infinite all around them, just as darkness itself was, and she turned to the man who had fallen alongside her, or perhaps she had fallen alongside him, and she kneeled besides him promptly.

Badly injured as he was she was unsurprised that his eyes were shut tightly and he was making small, pained noises as he tried to move, blood dripping down from his hairline and seeping across his face. Dark, deep red that seemed duller in the weak, probably false light that they had, and she kneeled besides him and tried to reach out to touch him, before hesitating. So badly he was marred, his arms and his torso and his legs, that she was afraid to touch him for fear of causing him more pain, for fear of having him spontaneously fall apart underneath her touch. An irrational fear, but she still felt it and dropped her hand to her lap and gnawed on her bottom lip.

”I can’t see anything.”

The words were uttered when he tried to open his eyes but ended up shutting them quickly moments later, trembling violently before growing suspiciously still and she reached out again hesitantly, brushing her fingers against his forehead. As brief as the touch was it still resulted in a cringe and she jerked her hand back guiltily, looking around at their surroundings in desperation. All around them the darkness felt pressing and she knew that they had to get out of there lest they be trapped forever.

”I'm sorry. I’ll get us out of here.”

Doubtlessly her lack of confidence in her words bled into her tone. In truth she had no idea how to get them out of there, if her powers would world in that place to open a portal, and if she could even get Zack up and through it without seriously injuring him more or the darkness tainting his heart irreparably. There were no guarantees and she knew that, yet she still said—

                                                                        ”I promise.”

How foolish and idiotic she truly was.
